Over the last 40 years, the texturing of Polyamide yarns has been carried out via friction with ceramic discs. Temco has developed a variant using polyurethane discs, with yarn characteristics after texturing that, based on laboratory tests, are particularly interesting.
The advantages are especially notable for PA yarns with counts up to 50 dtex:
• Greater elasticity of the finished fabric after dyeing • Improvement in the appearance and “hand” of the fabric, softer to the touch • More efficient production aspects: machines can texture at higher speeds compared to ceramic • “Cleaner” processing compared to ceramic
Tests were performed with warp-knit fabrics. New practical tests for Jersey and traditional fabrics will follow shortly to obtain further confirmation regarding the economic advantage of processing with PU nano discs.
